Natural Capital Symposium 2017

20.03.17 - 23.03.17

ncs_stanfordThe 2017 Natural Capital Symposium will be a major convening of leaders in natural capital approaches around the world. We are coordinating with international and domestic groups focusing on natural capital approaches, to ensure that the growing community of practice around natural capital approaches continues to engage, learn, and adapt. Interactive sessions throughout the symposium will focus around five central themes:

  • Sustainable Development Planning
  • Securing Freshwater
  • Fostering Resilient Coastal Communities
  • Developing Sustainable Cities
  • Creating Standards for the Private Sector

The Natural Capital Symposium takes place across three simultaneous tracks.

The Pathways to Impact track highlights engagements from around the world where understanding of ecosystem services has had an impact on a decision, a stakeholder process, or an outcome.

The Learning Exchange track features in-progress, theoretical, or experimental work, out on the leading edge of ecosystem services science. Using dynamic formats, these sessions are designed to foster information sharing and collaboration between attendees.

The Approaches & Applications track is a set of 1/2-day training sessions on key topics—including using InVEST and other tools—intended for practitioners, researchers, or project teams looking to get started with their own natural capital-informed project.
